Barlast

Nordic folk music, jazz, and art rock—do they go together? You bet! Barlast is a playful laboratory of musical communication and forms of expression; the band is described as a spectral wonder. When he's not on the road with Barlast, bandleader Philip Holm makes experimental music on old machines that have been converted into instruments. Drummer and flutist Minna Koskenlahti has studied the connections between boxes and drums, Sante Salonen composes for orchestras as well as party metal and plays woodwind instruments with Barlast. Guitar wizard Heikki Hänninen loves Eric Dolphy, Townes van Zandt, and Frank Zappa. All clear? We are excited about a fusion that sounds difficult on paper but is actually easy and captivating to listen to. We are in for a really exciting evening.
